New season, new beginning

As the new season dawns on the congregation of Paradise of God Church, the light breezy rain of God’s blessings fell gently down on the family of Apostle Roderick. It is an opportunity indeed for a season of miracles! Almost 10 months since Apostle had a stroke with numerous surgeries, medical science and logical mind cannot comprehend the magnitude of His hand on this man of God. Today, Apostle is able to sit and engaged in the usual conversation with his unique satirical and humorous fashion.

This man and his amazing and speedy recovery is a testament of the reality of our God and faith in Him is depended not on the size but the length of it, especially demonstrated in Apostle, whose faith in God is shown in his attempt to lead the church in prayer on Sunday. It is a sign, that the devil cannot keep a good man down, nor will our circumstances, Apostle will rise up and God will restore a hundredfold to this man of God and his family.

Apostle's birthday - 4 October 2007

4 October 2007 – The day there gathered at Eagle’s Nest, the group of people to celebrate Apostle Roderick’s birthday.

This year’s a real special one, aside from the fact that Apostle was not feeling too well, but it was special because of the huge turnout of people coming all the way on a week day Thursday to be part of this celebration for Apostle. There hangs in the air a special ring to this party, being more than just another birthday celebration; it is a gathering of family members, family of this church, Paradise of God. Remembering God’s faithfulness throughout this year that is evidence in this family and within Apostle’s life, there is a hint of gratefulness and thanksgiving. I believe that this is not an accident, for the Official Church opening is merely two days after Apostle’s birthday, it is a prelude what we can expect in the new season.

There is a season, a season of waiting and preparation is over, Apostle is fully rested and we believe in the Word given regarding his ministry that he will return stronger than ever and there in the air of expectancy, with birds singing and the break of the warm sunshine through the Spring time, the season to rise is at hand. There you go, it is not an ordinary birthday after all! Happy Birthday Apostle.

Road to Recovery

Apostle Roderick has been recovering at a tremendous speed. The last 7 months have been nothing but a miracle for a person who went through so many operations and from a major stroke. Apostle is now at home, resting and recuperating. He has also shown tremendous progress in his physiotherapy and now has more strength and able to sit up for a long time without tiring. Apostle is able to make jokes and carry a normal conversation with visitors and able to enjoy a comedy or two on TV.

Lung Infection

Aposlte is back at the NEST!

Aposlte has been discharged from AMK Rehab center and has been brought back to his own home, finally after almost 5months of being homesick. He still has a ways to go and the family will continue to do therapy with him on a daily basic. Speech and Physiotherapy. He is still unable to walk on his own or consume solid food so please continue to pray. God Bless

Results are out. Doctors say that there are no major abnormalities that we should be worried about. Praise God. However Apostle has been transfer to ICU as it would make monitoring his progress easier over the next few days. They are still concerned about his breathing as his lungs is still not very strong.

Today at around 5pm, Apostle suddenly went into a semi conscious state was brought back to TTSH for x-rays and brain scans. The doctors fear that he might be in danger of a recurring stroke. They suspect that there might be a slight bleeding again in his brain that might cause him to become drowsy again.

Please continue to keep Apostle in prayer as well as the family. We firmly believe that God is and always will be in control. We will keep you updated once more information is release after the doctors study the results from the x-rays and scans.

Apostle has been in hospital for over 2 months now. He is getting more alert being able to open his eyes for extended periods of time, he is even able to pull himself to an upright position! This shows that clearly he is gaining strenght with each passing day.

He is still unable to speak clearly and alot of coughing due to a chest infection earlier. Doctors are estimating that it will be at least 3 more months before he will be able to talk and eat solid food. However Gods timing is not mans timing and we chose to believe the report of the Lord not mans. So please continue to pray with us. Once again on behalf of Apostle and the Tay family, Thank you all for your support and prays. It is really great to know that so many care and thou we come from different churches, countries and races we are all still in the one big family of CHRIST!

Relocation

Apostle has been relocated to TTSH Rehab Center in AMK. It is about 10-15mins walk from Yio Chu Kang MRT startion. He is in ward 2 (Which is located on the 3rd floor) Bed 49

Apostle's Road to Recovery

Apostle has recently become increasingly fustrated with his current condition. A once active person now bedbound for over a month, we can only begin to fathom the inner struggles that he is facing at this point.
His physiotherapy has been making fine progress. He even managed to read the newspaper and sit up for a record time of 45mins.
Some things that currently concern us are his ability to swallow. Till the day he is able to swallow correctly, he will need to have the feeding tube placed into his nasal passage. Please join us in prayer regarding this matter and that the peace of God will overwhelm him with his love and peace.
Simple things that we all take for granted, Apostle has to lean on God's strength to accomplish. Slowly but surely we will see God's hand in this miracle. I can't wait to see the day when Apostle walks out of that hospital like the way our God and savior did on the 3rd day!

Sorry for the lack of updates the last few days. So many things have just been happening at the same time.
Couple of days ago Apostle was doing so well. He opened his eyes for all the church memebers who visited him on sunday. The youth even sang him a song which i believed brought him to tears. He even managed to give Pastor Sally a hug. He was making so much progress...
Until 3 days ago when he pulled out the feeding tube in his nose. Since than the nurses have been trying to reinsert the feeding tube but all attempts have been unsuccessful.
Its been 3 days now and Apostle has not eaten or taken any medicine whatsoever. He is beganning to feel drowsy and is sleeping most of the time now. Probably due to the lack of food. Today the doctors are going to make another attempt to insert the feeding tube using an xray to assist them during the proccess.
Please continue to pray that this attempt will be successful as many of the past attempts have left Apostle exhausted and there seems to be some scaring on the inside as the tube is coated with blood.

31st Jan: Pastor Rachel shared with me on leaders meeting - Apostle is doing great! His memory is going strong. Pastor Rachel asked Apostle if he still remembered his Rib Eye Steak in the fridge, and he nodded his head! When asked if she could eat it, Apostle shaked his head! : ) Its great! He still has his sense of humor and his memory is still strong. Lets pray for him to get better soon!

1st Feb: Also Apostle spoke his first words today! Amen Praise God! Pastor Sally told us as the doctors sealed up the trakky today for him to breathe on his own for 8 hours. She heard him saying "toilet, quick" to the nurse.. She was so happy to finally be able to hear Apostle's voice.

Lets also keep Pastor Sally in mind, as she has really lack of sleep. I last saw her at 11pm on 31st Jan Wed when we left her in the hospital. I saw her again back at Lornie, at 7pm 1st Feb Thurs, she just returned from the hospital. Near 24 hours of non rest. We need to support her.

God will do miracles

26th January Friday

Apostle is reacting to us when we pray in tongues, we sang to him Agnus Dei and shared our testimonies to him. He shed tears.. Apostle is doing Good, and we need to pray for him to put his faith and trust in the Lord. Lets pray that the tube can be removed from his throat as soon as possible.

We can start visiting Apostle in the hospital, but we have to be discreet and discerning so that he feels peaceful...

For Peace and Patience in Apostle

Apostle is getting stronger by the day, we need to pray for him for patience as he gets better each day. As its frustrating to be lying there, unable to speak and to move around. He pulled out the tube connected to his nose today and was unhappy with the nurse. Lets pray for peace in his heart that he will take this time to rest and dwell in the Lord, and for God to take away the discomfort.

He wanted to take away the "track" tube in his neck and it bled.. so we need to pray that the pain he is suffering from goes away..

Apostle is doing great

Heard from Pastor Rachel today that Apostle is still his humourous self! Its a blessing, that he is able to connect with her on their usual jokes and even massages Pastor Rachel gently on the hand.

The nurse asked Apostle when he opened his eyes, who Pastor Sally is: And he mouthed the words; "My Wife". It touched Pastor Sally so much cos Apostle recognizes and his memory is going on strong.

Apostle is doing great! Lets pray harder during our prayer slots for him to get better and better!

He's moving about

Of late Apostle has began to move about alot. Opening his eyes more often. He is getting stronger by the day. He even managed to rip out the blood pressure thingy which they wrap around your arm. He is also starting to pull on the tubes that are in his body which i am sure are very uncomfortable but potentially dangerous.

Please continue to pray that the tracky (whole around his throat) can be removed soon and he will be able to breath on his own and even speak!! cause at times he will get frustrated when we fail to understand what he is trying to communicate to us.

Secondly pray that his body will be able to move the brain fluid effectively as currently he is helped with a tubing that will be put permenantly into his body thru another operation if he fails to be able to do it on his own.

Dear Lord,

We want to thank you for everything that you have done for us, and we know that you have a reason for everything! May your healing hands be on Apostle now and may he soon be able to lower his temperature and be on the path of recovery. For you are a Miracle working God! Lord, please keep Pastor Sally safe in your arms, that she may continue to have strength and may she be able to sleep well at night, grant her peace and health!

Lord, also I pray for Isaac that he will have the strength to support his mother and his sister right now, that they will grow even stronger as a family as the church also prays and cares for them! For Pastor Rachel, for her strong love for her father flow into Apostle even right now, that he knows that his family is loving him, supporting him and everyone in Church is praying for him..

I pray all these in Jesus's name.

Update on Apostle today

Dear all,

Thank you for praying, Apostle still has fever but the doctors cannot find any form of infection on him, so its great news! And Apostle opened his eyes wide today and he can also respond by nodding his head! : )

Its wonderful, lets keep praying for his recovery and for Pastor Sally who needs rest, for Isaac and Pastor Rachel for their strength and faith.

I am sure that many of you are very concerned about the condition of Apostle. We started this website as a means to keep you all updated of his progress.

From the Tay family we want to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for all the support that you have given us, the prayers and all the gifts that we have received thus far.

I know my GOD is able and HE is ever watching over His children. This will be a great testimony for His Kingdom!! Amen
